Ottawa is still in full COVID-19 social distancing mode and although the tulips at the Ottawa Tulip Festival were off-limits for photos at the beginning, the city ended up taking down the “no photo” signs.
Thank God they did, because we were able to both safely social distance AND take pictures.
These pictures were actually taken on the last day of the festival, and I had to rush to the park (perks of living right across from one of the venues) with my 3 chihuahuas to make sure I didn’t miss the opportunity.
To those of you who were at the park at the same time, yes, I was that crazy person trying to get 3 dogs to sit together, making weird noises and rolling around on the grass. In my defense though, it paid off.
This year was actually Jiminy Cricket’s first ever tulip festival, and it was one of the reasons why I did not want to miss this. Jiminy is my foster fail that I adopted on May 8, 2020, the day the festival started. He is still very hard to take pictures of because he is not used to being in the spotlight like that yet, but he will soon realize that he has no choice. I’m sure other photographer parents or fur parents out there can relate.
Benji, on the other hand, has been a very grumpy old man lately. He’s been barking at every dog he sees and he even tackled the poor contractor’s foot the other day when he came to repair my AC. He’s also not thrilled at all to have another male in the pack now. He’s probably wondering when THIS foster will be leaving. Little does he know, this one’s here to stay.
Tofu is ecstatic to have Jiminy Cricket to play with all day, every day. They are very close in age and they get along like two peas in a pod. Tofu is also getting much better at having her pictures taken. She is not the overexcited puppy she used to be and she even smiles for the camera at times.

Have you been to the Ottawa Tulip Festival this year? We thought it was very quiet compared to the ones from previous years, which was great considering what is going on and the fact that we have been SO careful. Hopefully it will be better next year. Who know how many months or years this will last…
