Meet Bobby and Chloe!
Let’s start with Chloe, because she was the star that day.
Can you guess how old Chloe is? Can you believe it if I said she was 16?! You heard it right, Chloe does not look nor acted her age during the session!
She is however deaf and blind so it was somewhat challenging to have her look at the camera, but we managed. I used all the experience I had gained with my American Cocker Spaniel Pompom (RIP), who was deaf and blind as well, and it worked!
Chloe’s mom got her when she was still a child at 8 years old, so these two grew up together! Chloe did agility with her fur mom for many years when she was younger and slept with her every night. There were 3 other dogs living with Chloe at the time, but she had a very special place in her mom’s heart.
When she moved to Ottawa to go to university, she unfortunately had to leave Chloe to be able to live at the school’s residence, but as soon as the second year started, she brought Chloe back to Ottawa so they could stay together again.
Don’t let Chloe’s age fool you. Although she is deaf and blind, she hasn’t slowed down much and she will do anything for a treat, including climbing up on the counter to steal the bag! In fact, she almost ate my hand at the session and drooled all over it. That’s how you know your treats were a success!
Chloe also lives with a very special creature. His name is Bobby.
To this day, I cannot type his name without a huge grin on my face because Bobby is… Bobby. He’s simply the best and makes me laugh every time I see him. If you are not following him on Instagram, you should drop everything you’re doing and head over to his page because he’s a special case.
I have known Bobby since he first came in as a foster to Homes for Paws Dog Rescue.
He was terrified and looked traumatized (he still does, but he’s much more comfortable. His mom did an amazing job), but we had to take his adoption pictures so we did, and the result was a beautiful picture of a scared little nugget with (his now signature) under bite.
He later became a foster fail and he is now living the best life with his mom and his new friend (new grandma?) Chloe. Bobby has come such a long way and I was so surprised to see him run around with a HUGE smile on his face, something I had never seen before.
This photo of the 2 best friends got turned into a beautiful acrylic that their mom is going to hang on her wall.
This was an emotional session for me as Chloe reminded me a lot about Pompom. If I had had the chance, I would have kept an art piece of her as well and I was really happy to be able to help create a lasting memory of these two perfect companions for their mom.
