This blog is long overdue but Taco needs his own page too!
I met Taco at sunrise (big thanks to his dad who made it although he is not a morning person!) on the University of Ottawa campus and let me tell you, whoever meets Taco instantly falls in love with this cute, friendly, curly-tailed love bug.
Taco is a rescue from Homes for Paws Dog Rescue in Ottawa and I was surprised to learn that he is thought to be about 10 years old!
Taco was initially rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas by Hand me Down Hounds and came to Ottawa in 2018 thanks to Homes for Paws Dog Rescue.
Taco arrived in Ottawa in poor shape, with both kennel cough and heart worm. Lucky for him, he had an amazing foster mom who took care of him, loved him and nursed him back to health.
In summer 2018, Taco’s dad was looking for a dog. He had only had cats before so was feeling a bit apprehensive at the time, but had been checking rescue websites regularly without seeing a dog that seemed right for him.
Then, one afternoon, Taco came up.
He had been up for adoption for several weeks already, but people were worried as he was still undergoing heartworm treatment. It was love at first sight for Taco’s dad and he immediately sent in an application. Taco moved in with his dad a few days after they met for the first time and the rest is history!
Taco is a true velcro boy, and I can definitely confirm! He needs to be stuck to his dad at all cost and it was a big challenge to have him not be in the pictures!
Taco loves cuddles, eating dried or fresh chicken (he is a very picky eater and has no interest in any human food), wearing his different sweaters in winter, playing the occasional game of fetch with his toys, and taking his three walkies a day around the neighborhood… even when it’s -30C!
Taco never really barks, but if he really has something to say, he will make his trademark attention-getting sound, which is a cross between a sneeze and a cough.
Now how cute is that?
Taco’s 10% of his session fee was donated to Homes for Paws Dog Rescue in Ottawa. Thank you for helping us make a difference in the life of a rescue in need!
